The last play I saw was Phaedre at the National Theatre in a great new production with Helen Mirren as Phaedre, consumed with passion for her step son, believing her husband to be dead. Husband, Theseus, returns and the rest is carnage.
Highlights of the new season include visits to the Globe – Love’s Labours Lost, a lesser known Shakespeare, Richmond to see Brecht’s Caucasian Chalk Circle and to the Almeida Islington to see Mrs Klein about Melanie Klein one of the most admired, yet controversial, psycho-analysts of her time, renowned for her unique insight into the secret world of childhood.
